Strangers In Daylight is a three piece "Spy-Rock" band formed in October of 2010. Philip Palma (vocals and guitars), Jamarr Mays (Bass, vocals) and Michael Murtha (Drums, keys) are old friends with an idea to make edgy pop music with a heavy lean toward the past masters of the brit-pop scene, circa 1960s - 70s. Strangers began recording their initial offering in January of 2011 and independently released, the 'Strangers In Daylight EP' in April of 2011. Joel Oliphint of Columbus, Ohio "The Other Paper" wrote, "Reviewing a band’s debut show isn’t really fair. It’s like reviewing a restaurant the first week it’s open...But I went to see the debut show of Strangers in Daylight anyway. I’ve been curious about this local band ever since singer-guitarist Phil Palma, who owns the Treehouse, told me about some songs he was working on. He called it “spy-rock” and said it would be a lot like Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii, with lots of delay and “weird, chirpy noises.” Palma’s vision is now realized as a three-piece with Jamarr Mays on bass and Michael Murtha on drums and synth; both musicians previously played in Pirate. Palma’s former bands include American Slang and the original incarnation of Ghost Shirt. As Strangers in Daylight kicked off their Friday set at the Treehouse with echoey guitar, fuzzy bass and Palma singing “They’re coming for your family,” the Pink Floyd/spy-rock descriptors made perfect sense...So keep your eye on these spy-rockers as they progress and play more
