The floating, wistful electronica of Spring In A Small Town is sonic celebration of the chronologies, histories and memories embedded within the ancient woodland and provincial villages of Kent. Growing up in the countryside of South-East England, producer George Cloke developed a deep connection to the local landscape and folklore. “It’s a liminal space: mundane yet magical, tied to heritage and myth, shaped and reformed through a collective misremembering of an idealised past”. Likewise, Spring In A Small Town softens divides between realism and romanticism and the organic and the electronic, cocooning transient melodies within layers of warm vinyl textures and hushed keys, as pastoral field recordings submerge and resurface like half remembered dreams.
