South Weed was born earlier before. It is not the real name of the artist who is not an artist too!!! He was based in Berlin, Germany but since this became to boring he moved to Hannover, Germany, homestead, main city and headquarters of the german antifolk movement introduced by Ronny Schmidt, The Anti Folks and Spell Me Backwards in 1996. South Weed founded in 1997 as 10 man band in Naumburg, Saxony Anhalt, playing an wild mix of Folk Music and Grindcore. After a classical education the band split and formed three main groups of New Grunge: Help Myself! in Görlitz, Germany, Sweetspot in Bad Kösen, Germany and I promote myself in Berlin, Germany. After serious troubles about royalties and a lot of personal and drug ralated problems the former band members split up and South Weed became a three sheep project in Berlin, Germany moving slowly but constantly from somewhat Tool alike Hard Brain Metal to the finest antifolk ignoring recording standards cause the songs never got better while recording them more often. So South Weed saves a lot of time for full time studies (in audio technics e.g.) South Weed is at the moment without a doubt the most famous Hannover antifolk band and a serious loss for the Berlin band scene now left alone with only 2 or 3 good bands left. Sorry! Two major recordings and a small club tour in the US, Kanada and the urkraine are scheduled for 2008. We keep you informed.
