Consider the great Australian racehorse Phar Lap: old when compared to his contemporaries, brutishly ugly and with an ungainly yet phenomenal stride & gargantuan stamina. In much the same way, Sons of Lee Marvin are a punter’s delight. Back in 2005, they hammered out their first album from pig iron - “Desert Kill Theme” - a collection of self penned and produced post Marvin gonzo garage n roll epics (out thru Warthog/Shock 2005). In 2008 they slapped together 7 tracks of old, new, used and abused and aptly called it “Quick Release”, and then followed it up with a 2nd album “The Death of Romance”. SONS OF LEE MARVIN execute their souls right in the heart of Melbourne City and it’s forgotten underbelly wasteland. Amid the hyperbole of bodily harm and wasted lives, 5 shadowy figures stick to their own guns to cast stories of internal gut-wrench, heartbreak and the best of pleasures. Numerous Australian tours, and a tour of Japan in 2009 has seen them chisel out a live show that leaves many unable to stop the post-gig shakes. Bryan Mayden (bass & vocals), Stu Manchu (guitars & vocals), Coz Loco (guitars & vocals) and featuring both Kidd Gloves and Knuckles O’Hara on drums - yep, there’s two of them, at the same time. ...... it’s like watching a horse that looks like he’s going to shake himself to bits but is leading the bunch by a furlong.
