Artist
Sleep City was a progressive post-hardcore/alternative rock band from Providence, Rhode Island, United States. Sleep City was formed in 2009. Over the course of a five year career, they released two EPs and an LP. Getting out of your own head and letting yourself try anything when it comes to making music can be a barrier for some artists, but not Sleep City from Providence, RI. This is quickly evident when looking at their Facebook page and seeing them cover Taylor Swift or The Beatles. Defining where Sleep City fits musically can be as difficult as threading a needle, however, a hybrid of Pop/Punk with Jazz infused undertones would be a fair evaluation. The group of 20 somethings came together when the members were still in high school, drawing influences from acts like The Starting Line, Brand New, and Thrice. They’ve created a unique sound that is both aggressive and intricate, while still maintaining a pop sensibility.
