The Haarlem, NL based punkrock band Simple Assumption was formed in early 1999 by Koen (Bass, Vocals), Michel (Guitar) and Laurens (drums). After already having played together for several years, they decided the time was right to take things a bit more seriously. Simple Assumption soon created their own sound which can be described best as melodic punkrock, influenced bij SoCal punkrock bands like: Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, MxPx, The Offspring, Green Day and more. In December 2001 they recorded their first Demo entitled: “Red Colourless Idea’s” (5 track EP). This Demo did not stay unnoticed and helped them to play a lot of gigs all over Holland. Several songs from this EP were featured on the compilation cd’s: The Naked Truth, Still Naked (Naked Records), Pleurop Plaat. This demo even made them “band of the week” on Exit Radio (Dutch radio station). At the time Naked Records was looking for upcoming punkrock bands and this resulted in the release of the “Far From Home-EP” in late 2003 together with the Sellfish/Of No Avail-split EP. Though their EP was warmly embraced by press (eg. Oor, Live XS), friends and fans, the band felt an extra boost in their on-stage sound would do no harm and they found a perfect addition in Onno (also known from SPLENDID*69 & Inrage) on second guitar.
