Simon Robertson (born 1977) is a British composer mostly known for his sound design and music contribution to 90's-early 2000's video games such as Extreme-G, Extreme-G: XG2, and Re-Volt. He also released three solo albums in 2000-2004 under the alias Gen'ik. Other game titles that feature Robertson's work are Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M., Fur Fighters, Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge and Driven. According to archived genik.urbanchaos website Simon Robertson was born in late 1977 in England and was introduced to music by his father who then played in the band called "Back in the Day", so that his musical interest started while being around the band's live shows, recording sessions and jams, along with an opportunity to learn to play guitar. As a kid he also got into computers, learned how to program and sample music with newly released electronic devices. After the school years Simon attempted to study 3D CGI animation but ended up quitting the course and learning 3D design on his own. As a young man Gen'ik found a job as game tester at Probe Entertainment (later Acclaim Studios Croydon). Working at the studio he later discovered the Music Department and quickly started getting his own music together on CDs and sending them to the Department in the hope of getting a position there.
