Signal to Noise Ratio is often labeled as a progressive or psychedelic rock band. The musicians themselves locate their works “somewhere between contemporary art music and rock underground”. The band involves three people: Maria Białota (keyboards, vocals), Przemysław Piłaciński (guitar, programming, vocals) and Adam “Izaak” Wasążnik (drums, vocals). The songs of SNR are usually characterized by latitude of form varying from one concert to another and include a great number of improvised passages. While listening to the compositions of the group, one can easily find the traces of psychedelic ambience and ethnic music. The band is constantly looking for unconventional music solutions. Its original sound resonates with the roughness of late 1960s rock and is characterized by prominent parts of old analog synthesizers. SNR's early works were released in 2008 by the Russian label MALS Records on the CD titled Stan nieustalony. For some time the band has been working on the concept album Mitologia epoki maszyn. A preview demo featuring early versions of three tracks from the album was released in 2010. In February 2013, while still working on Mitologia epoki maszyn, the band is publishing a second release. This new album, titled Work in Progress is being recorded and released track by track in the Pay What You Want system. The track list will be closed by the end of the year and if the funds allow, the complete record will be released on a physical medium. Signal to Noise Ratio
