Sibel Can (born Sibel Cangüre; 1 August 1970) is a Turkish singer and actress. She became a dancer at the age of 14 and later started her music career. She was born in Karagümrük, Fatih, Istanbul, as the first child of Engin Cangüre and Emine Gül Sezer Cangüre. Her father was a Muslim Yugoslav immigrant and a violinist who accompanied many prominent singers during their concerts, while her mother was from Mudanya. At the age of 14, she began her career as a belly dancer and toured Turkey with her father. She later performed in various clubs such as Galata Tower and Astorya, and at the age of 17, she accepted the offer to perform at Maksim Casino. Her first album, Günah Bize, was released in 1987 through Kervan Plak with the help of Orhan Gencebay. In the following years, she became one of Turkey’s most popular singers, releasing many successful albums including Özledin mi? in 2005 and Arabesque in 2016. In addition to her music career, she has acted in films and appeared on television. She was also a judge on the singing competition O Ses Türkiye in 2016. Sibel Can married Hakan Ural in 1988, and they had two children, Engincan and Melisa. They divorced in 1999. She later married Sulhi Aksüt in 2000, and they had a son named Emir.
