Eilleen Regina "Shania" Twain (born August 28, 1965) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time and the best-selling female artist in country music history. She has been referred to as the "Queen of Country Pop," and Billboard recognized her as a leading figure among 1990s country-pop crossover artists. Twain was raised in Timmins, Ontario, and began pursuing singing and songwriting at an early age. She signed with Mercury Nashville Records in the early 1990s, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1993, which did not achieve commercial success. Her breakthrough came after collaborating with producer and husband Robert John "Mutt" Lange on her second studio album, "The Woman in Me" (1995).
