Scott Kreitzer was raised in South Florida and started playing clarinet at the age of 12. At age 15 Scott discovered the tenor sax during which time he simultaneously met Ira Sullivan, who later became his mentor. Scott spent his younger years seeing Ira live in concert, and was elated when many years later he joined his band. At 19 years old, Scott had the experience and confidence to venture to New York City where he had an opportunity to study with Joe Lovano, Eddie Daniels and Bob Mintzer while continuing his education at William Paterson College. While studying he met Rufus Reid and Dave Samuels and Bill Stewart and at this time, with the help of his recording engineer David Baker, the record Kick 'n Off was conceived. Audiophile magazine awarded this cd "top 100 records to die for". A year later he was awarded a National Endowment of the Arts grant to study clarinet with Eddie Daniels and went on to win 1st place in the "Hennessy Jazz Search". Scott then recorded his second CD with Mike Stern and Bill Stewart and David Baker and won a Japanese "Swing Journal gold disc award ". Scott followed this album with a groove based record that featured two groove masters, Bernard Purdie on drums and Larry Goldings on organ. His songwriting efforts produced a #1 single "You've Changed" recorded by Andy Snitzer.
