Sasha Pieterse (born February 17, 1996) is a South African actress and singer. She is known for her role as Alison DiLaurentis on ABC Family's TV series Pretty Little Liars. Sasha Pieterse was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on February 17, 1996 then she emigrated over to the United States when she was 3 years old where she was raised in Las Vegas before moving to Los Angeles. Pieterse grew up around show business. Her parents were both professional dance partners who performed all over the world, and Pieterse loved being on stage with them. She soon met with an agent who quickly signed her to an acting and modeling contract. She started in the business at the age of 4 1/2 working on commercials and print work. At 6 years old, Sasha Pieterse got her start in television, co-starring in 2002 as "Buffy" on The WB comedy series Family Affair. In 2004, she appeared in Stargate SG-1 and. She started to rise to fame as an actress when she played in House M.D. portraying a young girl named Andie with terminal cancer. Her performance in House M.D was later considered for a daytime Emmy in 2005.
