Two thousand and nine was a busy year for Sydney based Indie Rock/Pop artists Rumour On Florence. Working swiftly on their heavily acoustic influenced debut Consequence released in November, the band have since engrossed themselves in evolving and defining their sound for the modern world. With influences that include many acts from the psychedelic 60’s, the 70’s blues explosion and the 90’s grunge scene, Rumour On Florence bring to the table an intoxicating blend of old and new. The quartet featuring singer/guitarist Stephen Rosenbladh, guitarist/keyboardist Ryan Fitzhenry, bassist Adric Spearpoint and drummer William Pippen, all of which come from very similar but different musical backgrounds are really beginning to come into their own. “The new material we are writing now is a whole world away from our humble beginnings,” Rosenbladh explains. “We are gelling really well and it’s so exciting writing and collaborating together properly as a band, such natural evolution, and nothing I’ve been apart of before, it’s goose bump stuff!” After forming in early 2009 and launching the band in May the majority of the artistic direction and vision came from Rosenbladh, in fact the five tracks that appear on Consequence were all penned by the singer songwriter, including standout track and crowd favourite Self Centred.
