Formed in 1996, Rosemary Gates are Midwest Music scene veterans. They exploded onto the scene in 2000 with the release of their independent debut album Shine on King James Records. This led to the band's first single, "Free," being released to radio. The success of "Free" in turn led to sizeable record sales, 65 shows played, and record label attention (Universal, J Records, others), in addition to more radio play in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Houston, and New Mexico. In 2009, Rosemary Gates continues to boast one of the scene’s most loyal followings. The band released Myth & Judgment in 2007. “Myth & Judgment is a different kind of RG record,” says Bryan Bankson, bassist. “Although it still has many of the same elements as Shine, it is a much darker album and a bit more experimental for us.” Guitarist Michael Archbold added, “It is less Americana and more Progressive. It is also sonically more mature than Shine. Myth & Judgment is the full package. We believe that this record stands on its own against anything produced by the major labels today.” The band is currently touring in support of Myth & Judgment & writing & producing material for a new disc due out Winter 2008/2009.
