Rolf Riehm (born June 15, 1937 in Saarbrücken) is a German composer. Rolf Riehm was born in 1937 in Saarbrücken. He first studied music in Frankfurt and from 1958 composition with Wolfgang Fortner in Freiburg. He then served as principal oboist (including "Ungebräuchliches" at the Darmstadt International Summer Courses 1966) worked. Riehm is co-founder of the Frankfurt Music Association, which existed from 1964 to 1970. After briefly teaching profession in 1968, he was lecturer at the Rheinische Musikschule Cologne, where he was until 1972 a member of the "Group 8", an association Cologne composer. In 1968 he was awarded the "Premio Marzotto per la Musica" and a scholarship at the Villa Massimo, which enabled him to stay in Rome. From 1974 to 2000, Rolf Riehm professor of composition and theory at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt / M. From 1976 to 1981 he was a member of the "So-Called Radical Left brass band". Concert tours, lectures and workshops have taken him to, inter alia, Central and South America, Sweden and Japan. In 1992 he received the Art Prize of the Saarland, 2002 the Paul Hindemith Prize of the city of Hanau, since 2010 he is a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts.
