Princess Aniès is a French rapper of Taiwanese origin, who was raised in Pontoise, Val-d-Oise department (95), north of Paris. She composed her first rhymes in 1993 when she was 14 years old, and has been part of the French rap scene since 1995 when she joined the group DA System (with Mysta, Abuz, Tepa and Stor K.). Along with Tepa, she founded the group Les Spécialistes in 1997. Between 1995 and 1999 she participated in over 50 mixtapes and compilations and performed over 200 concerts in France and abroad. In 1999, she released her first album as part of Les Spécialistes, which won the prize for the best self-produced album at the Festival XXL Performances. She became the first female rapper to host a radio show in 1999, on the show Générations 2000. Her first solo album, Compte de Faits was released in 2002 on her and Amara's independent label, Tilt productions. In 2006, she released a double CD best-of compilation Ma p'tite histoirecontaining 50 of her previous tracks. Her latest album, Au carrefour de ma douleur was released in January, 2008, accompanied by a DVD documentary which follows her work in refugee camps in Chad, explaining the conflict in Darfur and the lives of its refugees.
