Pop Music Team was a very popular musical group in Mexico City in the late 60's. there were 7 members: Jorge Berry-vocalist, Beto-trumpet, Bocho-drums, Ted Sparkuhl-the "gringo" who played tenor saxophone, and 3 other musicians whose names are forgotten at this time. The Doors backup band at the Forum in 1969- The Pop Music Team was a hot band for "fiestas de boletos" (live dances where people paid to get in) and in 1969 when The Doors came for a 2-day gig at The Forum, they were asked to be The Doors backup band. The first night they came on before The Doors and the 2nd night the performed after The Doors and Jim Morrison performed. When Canned Heat came to the National University in 1969, The Pop Music Team played on stage as one of the bands at that concert. When Ted Sparkuhl graduated from Mexico City College in 1970, he left the band and returned to the USA for that summer. When he returned to continue graduate school in Cholula Puebla, he visited the band in Mexico City and met their new sax player who replaced him. It's unclear how the band faired after 1970.
