Peña is an American post-rock/math-rock instrumental band. Their sound has been compared to the likes of Battles, Pele, Mogwai or Red Sparowes. The sound is built from melodic repetition, progressive builds, schizophrenic transitions and the occasional crushing wall of noise. Complex and dark one moment, upbeat and bright the next. There are two official releases from the band. The first is the 2005 7 song EP entitled "Human Circuits", and the second is the 2009 6 song EP titled "Best Friends". While their early material represented a more melodic and cinematic sound, the newer recordings showcase a more technical, heavy, and driving version of the band.
