Real songs, with choruses and everything. They call it folk rock romanticism, but don't take their word for it. There’s nods to the classics and winks to the contemporaries. Grim realities wrapped up in soaring melodies. Dreamlike sequences in four-time straightforwardness. But in the end there’s just good songs. Parson Brown are a Dutch seven-piece band from the Utrecht region. They released their debut album 'The Farewell State' in 2008. 'Mexican Standoff' was a minor hit in both France and their home country, as was 'The Trees That Whisper'. Their second album, entitled 'Does My Heart Look Big in This?', came out early 2011. The songs on it seem more cheerful - or less dark - than before and they tend more towards a folky yet in places warm, baroque sound. Line-up Danny Gordijn - lead vocals and guitars Andre van Arnhem - bass & backing vocals Mark Solleveld - guitar & backing vocals Barrie Snijder - guitar & backing vocals Rolf Hofkes - piano, organ & keyboards Rob van 't Veld - drums & percussion Merlijn Lamers - violin The official website of Parson Brown is www.parsonbrown.nl.
