The young and fresh Trondheim-based indie group are despite their tender years quickly making a name for themselves on the Norwegian music scene. Panda Panda transform their atonal pop leanings into noisy and blissful indie rock that crackles with intensity, but also know when to leave their hooks a bit of space to breathe. Distorted and direct, debut single «New Friends» journeys into synth and guitar driven Sonic Youth-esque landscapes before turning things on it’s head with a sweetly melodic verse that sees singers Ragnhild Fanged Jamtveit and Håkon Brunborg Kjenstad delicately swirl around each other over poignant guitars and playful drums. It’s sprawling, dreamy, sonically massive, wonderfully weird and it’s all Panda Panda. Panda Panda have generated a lot of buzz in Norway the last months, playing prestigious festivals such as Trondheim Calling, Pstereo and UKA and are hotly tipped to be one of Norway’s most exciting bands the next years.
