These sons of the slack key musician Gabby Pahinui -- "Bla" (James), Cyril, and Martin -- join their voices in singing traditional Hawaiian tunes, plus their own versions of some contemporary songs. Pahinui Brothers is: Cyril Pahinui James "Bla" Pahinui Martin Pahinui On their album The Pahinui Bros. (released 1992 on Private Music) Ry Cooder and David Lindley play many guitar parts, Terry Evans, Willie Green, Arnold McCuller and Dwight Yoakam are on background vocals, Van Dyke Parks is on keyboards, and Jim Keltner is playing drums, so it's mostly the usual Ry Cooder band of that time. In the mid '70s, he had already recorded the album The Gabby Pahinui Hawaiian Band Volume 1 with their father.
