Oleg Kuular was the first Tuvan musician to perform throat singing in the United States. He was born in Iskra village in 1958. He learned to throat-sing from the grand master Kara-sai Ak-ool and was one of this best students. He has been a member of Shu-de, in which, besides singing, he played harp, igil and khomous.
