At just 22 Goldsmiths’ graduate Nila is an Emerging Artist in Residence at Southbank Centre, London and has worked with Nitin Sawhney, Mad Professor, Max Moya (Ojos de Brujo), Jason Yarde , Seb Rochford and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) as well as singing as a soloist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. As a classically trained musician and singer, Nila’s performed in an impressive array of established venues including Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Halls, Millennium Dome, Bridgewater Hall, Cargo, 93 Feet East, Brighton’s answer to SWSW Great Escape (2008). She has also performed on BBC Songs of Praise, BBC Radio 4 and the BBC Asian Network Radio on the Nikki Bedi show. Nila’s inspirations and influences include Natacha Atlas, Imogen Heap, Anoushka Shankar, Ojos De Brujo, Joni Mitchell, and Nitin Sawhney amongst others. Her debut EP Unattached To Desire was recorded in a SE London basement, combining piano, santoor (Iran), guitar, kora (West Africa) and chapman stick in a distinctive, beguiling blend.
