about

After borrowing friends’ guitars for months as a freshman at Bucknell University, Andrew Burr purchased his first guitar in December 2000. He completed his first record, Kalmia, in 2003, and followed in 2004 with The Day for All Believers, which included appearances by pianist Amanda Brecker, daughter of legendary jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker, and Grammy Award-winning drummer Steve Mitchell, a past sessionist for Van Morrison, Vince Guaraldi and The Grateful Dead. Andrew spent the greater part of 2006 recording for his third self-produced album, Road to Valaränd, reuniting with Mitchell and former bandmembers Matt Talbot, Chris Rapach and Jeff Clark. Joining a strong folk influence to mingling blues and jazz, Road charted a new course in Andrew’s songwriting, summoning The Band-style americana-folk in tracks like Eveson and Plaid Clad Man, and a Steely Dan-esque polish in Cool Night Music.
