about

New Natives is a four-piece independent rock band from Valdosta, GA. Their music incorporates an eclectic blend of classic power pop, electronica, and dreamlike psychedelia. The whole band sings, putting an emphasis on intricate, dynamic harmonies. Their lyrics are honest and immediate, relating an ambiguous sense of anxiety and hopefulness about their lives, relationships, and the future. The band has cultivated a devoted following in their hometown, and they have become the “go to” performers for local festivals and events. Their songs have been featured on the MTV series “I Just Want My Pants Back,” and they released their first full length album in December 2013. New Natives was started by Jeffrey Haineault, the former drummer for the country-tinged, pop-punk band, Ninja Gun. Ninja Gun toured the U.S. and Europe, supporting the bands Murder by Death, Against Me!, and The Gaslight Anthem before going on a hiatus in 2010. Haineault then recruited other local musicians to help him flesh out the songs he’d been writing: Taylor Patterson on drums, Jackson Dean on guitar, and Joe Martin on bass. Dean, Martin, and Patterson, all songwriters themselves, helped Haineault to expand New Natives’s sound.
