Neusa Maria (born as Vasilíki Purchio in São Paulo Dec 1st, circa 1928). Started to sing in presentations for the neighborhood when was 12 y.o. Later she gained the "slogan" of "Queen of the Jingle" and "Voz doçura do Brasil". Adopted the artistic name of Neusa Maria, for suggestion of Abílio Caldas, therefore its Vasilíki, Christian name, was of difficult pronunciation. In 1943 received the heading from "the Star of the Year" in a competition who congregated some artists of the musical scene of São Paulo. Was elect the best radio singer in 1956, in research made for the Club of the Record and "the best singer of the radio of 1957", in research carried through for "Magazin of the Radio", when its records entered with frequency in all hit parades of the time. It received the trophy "Disco de Ouro" of newspaper "O Globo" in 1956. It recorded two records for the Continental one, 23 for the Sinter between 1950 and 1957, 10 for the RCA Victor between 1958 and 1960. It still recorded for the CBS and the Star. Big hits: "Caixa postal zero zero", "Quisera", "Olhos traidores", "O tempo marcou", "Siga", "Nos teus lábios", "Eu não sei o que será" and "Murmúrios".
