Formed in late 2007 by Jesse Marsh (bass, formerly of Madison, Wisconsin bands Houndrunner and the Hat Party) and Henri Chandanais (drums, formerly of New Bedford, Ma. bands Baylies Band and the Paterson Film) as a duo in Fall River, Ma. After auditioning a series of guitarists they were joined in May 2008 by Michael Brunetto who was just out of a 2.5 year stint in Rooftop Suicide Club. For they following year they moved to New Bedford, Ma., wrote songs, developed their sound as an instrumental trio and gigged around the New Bedford, Ma. and Providence, RI. areas. In November of 2008 they began work on their first release, EP001, handling the recording, engineering, mixing and mastering themselves at their practice space. In January 2009 EP001 was finished and the band offered the EP as a free download on their website, and shortly after caught the ear of Providence, RI label 75 Or Less Records who pressed and released a limited run of cd's for the band. In August of 2009 the three members of Nature/Nurture sought to expand their live sound, a result of their newer material becoming more complicated and layered. They added a second guitarist in Chris Haskell, former vocalist and guitarist (and former bandmate of Brunetto's) of Rooftop Suicide Club. In December of 2009 the group began recording drum tracks for what would eventually become EP002.
