Nancy's Place is a experimental Post-Punk / Industrial band, initially formed in 1985 as a recording project by L.D. McBride and Andy H in the Romney Marsh area of Kent (UK). This line-up was eventually expanded to include Dave Jones (bass and vocals), and two drummers, Paul Jones and Troy Glover-Smith. The band's material delves into the dark, disturbing world of the human psyche, invoking comparisons with acts such as Throbbing Gristle, Swans, Death In June and Joy Division. Pounding primal songs are interspersed with morbid poetry, unsettling textures, drones and found sounds. The band have performed as a live act only rarely (14 times to date), with some form of visual performance accompanying the music. Props such as potted plants, flour, umbrellas, flour, sex-dolls and chocolate cake have all featured in latter-day Nancy's Place gigs.
