"Dinahir Tostes Caymmi" Nana Caymmi, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on April 29, 1941, was one of the greatest voices of Brazilian popular music, with a career marked by moving interpretations and a trajectory linked to important names in MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Daughter of renowned composer Dorival Caymmi and singer Stella Maris , Nana was born into a family deeply connected to music. Her brothers, Dori Caymmi and Danilo Caymmi , also pursued musical careers. Despite this artistic heritage, Nana only began her professional career in the 1960s. In 1966, she participated in the International Song Festival, where she met Gilberto Gil , with whom she had a brief relationship and became involved in the Tropicalist movement. However, her musical aesthetic has always been more focused on the tradition of Brazilian song, with a strong emphasis on lyricism and intense interpretation. Nana Caymmi's influences include the music of her father, Dorival Caymmi, and bossa nova, but she has always sought a more dramatic and romantic style, also drawing on fado and bolero.
