The Miusow Quartet unites four musicians from different generations, brought together by the aggressive and unconventional attitude, as well as approach, to playing their instruments. Although many would label their complex music as instrumental rock jazz (with “ethno” elements), it seems, however, that the latter consciously flees from all the rules of jazz or rock. We could almost claim that it avoids any rules of music in general. Loud and complex arrangements of their compositions do not allow the listener’s passive contemplation; the continually changing rhythmic and harmonic structure within a particular piece does not by far create a gentle atmosphere of a bar, but rather forces the listener to a constant search for balance in trying to solve this sound puzzle.
