In the fall of 1984 Sascha Konietzko and Klaus Schandelmaier (who became more widely known as En Esch in 1988) were approached by Peter Missing from NYC who took temporary residence in Hamburg at the time, to book a club show, come up with material to perform at said show, and gather a few musicians to round up the outfit. The show took place on 11/25/1984 at the Kir Club in the old Max-Brauer Allee location. Lineup: Peter Missing on vocals, Sascha Konietzko on bass, Florian Langmaack on saxophone, Uwe Bastiansen on guitar, Klaus Schandelmaier (En Esch) on drums,, and a second drummer who's name has been lost to time. The day after the show KMFDM sprung for a recording session at Frontline Studios, which was released online in 2018 as Hamburg 1984[/album.
