Mike and Mharlyn are the son and daughter of preeminent hard bop bassist Jymie Merritt, legendary sideman in the 50's and 60's for Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Benny Golson, BB King, Max Roach and Dizzy Gillespie among many others. Jymie is alive and well and playing in Philly. Mike Merritt can been seen nightly as part of the Max Weinberg 7 on Late Nite with Conan O' Brien. Mike can also be heard on recordings by Odetta, Phoebe Snow and Johnny Copeland as well as his other independent projects. Visit Mike's website at www.mikemerritt.com. Mharlyn can be seen in Philadelphia on DUTV cable channel 54 as host of the areas longest running world music video show Global Beat Connection. Mharlyn is a past recipient of the National Endowment on the Arts Fellowship in Jazz Performance. Mike and Mharlyn's brother, Marlon (pronounced MAR-LAWN) back safe and sound from the war in Iraq, puts in a guest appearance on the trac Fade To Black.
