Artist
Michael Scheuenstuhl (also found as Scheuenstühl; 1705–1770) was a German organist and composer active in Franconia. Reference sources place his birth in Gutenstetten and his death in Hof (Saale). He is documented as organist at the Hohenlohe residence in Wilhermsdorf from 1722, and from 1729 he served at Hof’s main church of St. Michaelis, where his name appears on keyboard publications identifying him as “Organist in Hof.” His surviving profile is centred on galant keyboard music, including printed collections of suites/partitas such as Gemüths- und Ohr-ergötzende Clavier-Übung (1747) and Die beschäfftigte Muse Clio. Modern organ/keyboard programming and anthologies occasionally revive individual pieces attributed to him.
