Artist
Miao Xiaoyun (苗晓芸) is a virtuoso player of various Chinese lutes. She is a Ruan player. She graduated at the Central Conservatory of Music in 1982 and became the first teacher in China Conservatory of Music to establish the Ruan as a major instrument. In 1987, she won the first prize in the First Folk Music Competition held in Shanghai. In 1997, she was invited by the Swiss National Radio Station to give a joint concert with Xu Pingxin and Wei Li. Her performance was highly appraised and was commented as an outstanding Pipa and Ruan musician.
