Meszecsinka is the fruit of a love affair begun under the full moon. In Bulgarian it means “small moon” and comes from Annamari’s favorite Bulgarian folk song. Meszecsinka is intimate, magical and fragile, as any labor of love. Meszecsinka's voice, Annamari, sings in seven languages (Hungarian, Gypsy, Bulgarian, Finnish, English, Arabic and Spanish), Meszecsinka comes from two countries (Hungary, Bulgaria) and leads you into a sonorous Wonderland, where Bulgarian and Hungarian Folk music coexists with Latin and Funk, Oriental and experimental. The result of this musical infusion resonates with many people and the band has performed in the biggest venues in Hungary such as Millenáris or Palace of Arts as well as at many festivals in the country and abroad. In 2011 Meszecsinka won first prize among 100 bands in Hungarian talent competition Folkbeats, propelling them on an American tour. Now Meszecsinka are about to release their first full-length debut on Hiperbole Records. The album is a cultural journey through the various musical styles they internalized. From Folk to Flamenco-influenced and Funk-driven tracks, or their adaptation of a traditional Hungarian children’s song, Meszecsinka have a broad spectrum of influences which blend together in their music. Expect a colorful journey as Meszecsinka take your mind on a trip into their world. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
