Medicine Ball Information can be found at: www.myspace.com/medball From the vestiges of legendary punk bands Idle Rich and Porno Sponges, Medicine Ball formed in 1988 in Providence, Rhode Island. The original members were Mark Stone (bass), Don Sanders (guitar), Peter Phillips (guitar), and Bruce Moravec (drums). In 1990 their track "Sissy and me" appeared on the "Where' s Stanton Park" compilation. In 1991 Peter Phillips left the band to play with Six Finger Satellite and Evan Williams from cult band Plan 9 joined Medicine Ball as they began writing new material to appear on their debut LP. Released in early 1992 on their own Irregular label, "Sandwich Full of Lies" was an album which won them critical acclaim. The band’s music featured a variety of styles described as a jamming atmosphere of complex arrangements. In 1994 the band release their “Science Secret Stars” record on the September Gurls label. The subtle two-guitar interplay on their 1994 release “Science Secret Stars” has been compared to greats such as Cipollina / Duncan (Quicksilver Messenger Service) and Verlaine / Lloyd (Television). In 1996 the band released their 3rd record, "Planet Freakout" again on their own Irregular label. In 1997 Mark Stone helped to organize the very first Terrastock festival. The band made appearances at both the Providence Terrastock and the following year’s 1998 San Francisco Terrastock festivals. The band released a split single for the SF Terrastock with Providence
