Artist
Maxi Göthling is a german composer and musician. Her style encompasses post-classical pieces and contemporary orchestral music, often with an experimental touch to merge her wide interest in different musical styles. The one thing all of her works have in common is an extreme emotional depth that paints vivid pictures in musical form. According to her Twitter posts, a focus on strong melodies and a unique and an inventive style similar to Kevin Penkin or Keiichi Okabe is of utmost importance to her. Her music is often compared to the music of Joe Hisaishi, Yasunori Nishiki and a mix between western classical music, soundtracks and japanese orchestral music. Through her growing up playing video games, a lot of the melodies and musical elements borrow ideas from video game music. But even then she proved to be a versatile composer, as exemplified by the score for the short film called "Meant To Be" where she settled for lush strings and more traditional, yet adorable melodies. Her album Approximate Symmetry is an amalgamation of all those influences. Merging western film music, eastern video game sound that's often said to focus on sad melodies but with a happy rhythm and 20th century classical. From epic cinematic music, to lyrical arrangements, the album features the whole palette of modern orchestral music/soundtracks.
