Artist
Martin Matalon (born in Buenos Aires in 1958) is an Argentine popular music composer, musician, and professor, known internationally as a recipient of the 2005 Grand Prix des Lycéens and the 2001 Prix de L'Institut de France Académie des Beaux Arts awards. He was a student of music during his early life, attending both Boston Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School of Music. He released his debut album, 'La rosa profunda', in 1992, a work inspired by the writings of Jorge Luis Borges. Having finally settled in Paris since 1993, Matalon's most recent work, 'Frames II, IV, VIII', was released in 2011. He draws influence from a lot of chamber and orchestral works of the past, but he also expresses a keen interest in media such as electronica songs and chanson balladry. Known also as a professor of music at institutions such as McGill University and Bekeley University, he continues to tour, with more information available at his official website here.
