Finnish progressive rock / fusion / improvisation band. Members: * Mika Hiironnniemi - Drums and percussions * Petri Koivistoinen - Bass and guitar * Jari Schroderus - Guitar The first musical connections that was to become Margin of Safety, was made in 2001, when Petri Koivistoinen and Jari Schroderus were introduced by a mutual friend, Sami Perälä. The meeting resulted in a recording of the three playing acoustic guitars. Koivistoinen and Schroderus felt a familiarity in each others playing that produced some very interesting improvisations with Perälä. The connection wasn't explored more until Koivistoinen came to play the bass with Schroderus and Mika Hiironniemi. Schroderus formed a band called Jacob's Ladder with a fellow guitarist Jaakko Hänninen. The band lasted for a short while, and traumatized by the excruciating 8 hour rehearsals every Sunday, Schroderus wasn't willing to join Hänninen's new progressive rock group Slow Marching Band when he was asked to play the second guitar. Three months later Schroderus gave in and met with Mika Hiironniemi. Very soon it was apparent that they had a connection and began planning to do some music outside Slow Marching Band. Schroderus gave Hiironniemi some demos he had done by himself. Hiironniemi, who had by that time worked as a professional drummer for about 10 years and was about to give that up to do some music he would enjoy, suggested Schroderus would re-record some guitar tracks so he could lay drums on t
