Artist
Marcel Thielemans (Schaerbeek, May 13th 1912 - Hilversum, May 15th 2003) was a noted Flemish singer and trombonist. In 1933 as a trombonist he joined the Dutch jazz band The Ramblers led by Theo Uden Masman. He swiftly took on some of the vocals and recorded dozens of songs made popular by the French chanson genre. He remained with the The Ramblers until 1964 when Theo Uden Masman and the band's sponsor and broadcaster since 1933, VARA, fell out but rejoined in 1974 under Jack Bulterman's leadership when The Ramblers reconvened. After the death of Bulterman in 1977, he led the band for 20 years until 1997 when Jacques Schols succeeded him. He finally left The Ramblers in 1988, 65 years after he first joined them.
