Artist
Luiza Maria debuted in 1975 with the album "Eu Queria Ser Um Anjo" ("I Wish I Was An Angel"). Nowadays regarded as an essential cult album in the Brazilian universe, the album failed to cause commercial success when originally released. Still in the 70s she worked as a backing singer for Tim Maia and Ivan Lins. Throughout the 80s and the 90s she released songs that were featured in popular Brazilian films and telenovelas. Also in the 90s she released her sophomore album, "Tarântula" ("Tarantula"), now a rare and out of print release. Having written mostly of the lyrics of the album, Luiza was also the executive producer in "Tarântula". In 2002 she released her first book, "Save As", which was accompanied by a CD featuring musical poems sung by hers. The book was released under the name "Luiza Xavier". Nowadays she lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has currently distanced herself from singing. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
