Oakland, California's Long Thaw had their start in the early Fall of 2003 when Boyjazz guitarist Diego Snake indefinitely detoured Mister Forever's quest for inner peace with the simple, yet resonant, act of playing for him the odd-timed boogie woogie guitar run that would become the signature riff of "Come Taste It." Ever true to their name, three and a half years later, Long Thaw, with the addition of Mumble & Peg veteran Savannah Black on drums, DeSoto Vice on bass, and Chile Valentine on vocals, debuted their fat-free brand of hard and heroic party rock in front of a live audience. "... Long Thaw’s music seems surprisingly fresh, especially as a muscular counterpoint to the foppish twee-ness of a certain segment of the indie underground. If you came of age during the late ’80s and early ’90s, and the sounds burned in your brain are those of Dinosaur Jr., Soundgarden, Mudhoney, and Jesus Lizard, you’ll enjoy Long Thaw’s old-school rock ’n’ roll." - Lauren Giniger, San Francisco Bay Guardian, Feb. 27 - Mar. 3, 2008 User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
