about

Visit the official Generalissimo website. Hailing from Oakland, California, and featuring veterans of Angel Hair, Boyjazz and Stay Gold Pony Boy, Generalissimo uses three guitars, bass, drums, and powerfully sung vocals to express its somewhat esoteric point: order implies violence. The sound is high concept, high modernist broken rock that evokes the aggression inherent in all forms of organization -- an impression reinforced by the band's carefully detailed stage show. Similar to Queens of the Stone Age and The Melvins, Generalissimo is an exercise in restraint. Similar to North Korea’s Mass Games, Generalissimo is a demonstration of radicalized unity. Established in late 2007, Generalissimo is now ready to discipline the public. Enlist now. Generalissimo will not disappoint. ********************************************** There is another Generalissimo: a palpably less conceptual English punk/alternative band from Liverpool. As of March 2007, the English Generalissimo were reportedly demoing new material and preparing for new recordings.
