Ljósvaki (aether in english) is the artist name of 23 year old Leifur Eiríksson (yes, like the viking that found America, but this guy has his own merits). With a strong passion for beautiful melodies his performance has been described as “a buddhist healing session in a catchy pop disguise”. At an early age he left for asia to learn the arts of meditation, levitation, dragon wrestling and analog synthesizers. Using sacred energy chrystals and astrology to guide his aural creations, after ten years in the temple his master decided that his music was ready for the world to experience, and that the world was ready to experience his music. Having decided this, Ljósvaki returned to Reykjavik and participated in Icelands “Musikktilraunir” (Battle of the bands). The crowd was uncertain of if he was serious when he claimed he was there to spread a message of love, unity and solidarity but it became clear fast that he meant it. Alone on the stage and armed with sincerity, he surprised the audience with his bluntness about love for fellow beings. We’ll never know if it was this oddly charming stage character or his music but he won second place in the competition and best programmer. Since then with guidance from his master through telepathy and facebook he has been performing and making music and self-released his first EP in july.
