Live Alien Broadcast is a Power Groove/Hard Rock band from Baltimore, MD. By combining raw power, funky grooves and pop sensibilities, Live Alien Broadcast carved their own niche into the Mid-Atlantic music scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Live Alien Broadcast (L.A.B. for short) began as the brainchild of drummer Rob Lasky and guitarist Don DeOliveira in the mid-1990s. Hailing originally from New York, under the moniker Tattoo Taxi, the pair travelled to the Baltimore/Washington area and placed an advertisement in a local paper. Responding to the ad, vocalist Jeff Jones and rhythm guitarist Jason Fubler joined the band. After a time, they recruited former Thug bassist Kevin Baker to complete the lineup. When drummer Rob Lasky left the band in 1997, LAB decided to move in a new direction, inviting former Orange Whip drummer Jerome Maffeo and Dancehall DJ Michael "Bigga" Haight to join the band and further tweak the Live Alien Broadcast sound. "I really feel that the band started when Jerome and Bigga joined", explains Jason Fubler. In 1999, Maffeo and Haight left the band to pursue another project (Fidel with Dave Hill). Live Alien Broadcast picked up two new members: DJ Geoffro (a local PA star in his own right) on turntables; and drummer Matt Toronto to complete the new lineup for the year 1999.
