American singer Lisa Keith (born 1960, Minnesota, USA), scraped into the top 40 with lead single “Better Than You” (#36 on the Billboard Hot 100) from her 1993 album Walkin’ in the Sun, which included contributions from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Follow-up single “I’m in Love” stalled at #84. Keith was a prolific backup singer in the 1980s with artists including Janet Jackson, Alexander O’Neal, Karyn White, New Edition and others, including The Human League’s number-one hit “Human.” Keith was also a vocalist with Janet Jackson on Herb Alpert’s 1987 singles “Diamonds” (#5 US pop, #1 US R&B) and “Making Love in the Rain” (#35 US pop, #7 US R&B).
