Liege Lord is an American power metal band formed in the 1980s by Matt Vinci, Anthony Truglio, and Frank Cortese. Originally a Judas Priest cover band called Deceiver, their early sound was heavily influenced by British heavy metal. They signed with French label Black Dragon Records, releasing their debut album "Freedom's Rise" in 1985, which gained a cult following. The band released three albums, including "Master Control" in 1988, produced by Terry Date. Members later pursued other musical projects—Joe Comeau joined Overkill and Annihilator, Anthony Truglio worked with Page Hamilton in Gandhi and a later version of Helmet, and Paul Nelson collaborated with Johnny Winter, winning a Grammy and signing with Sony/EMI. Liege Lord resumed activity in 2012 and headlined the Keep It True XVI festival in Germany in 2013. Founding member Matt Vinci died of cancer on September 9, 2023.
