Lemon Bazil was formed by drummer/vocalist Brad Craft and guitarist David Wendleghast. The name was a refrence to an inside joke that occured at a boyscout camp both members attended, and it was given to the band that they had inadverdantly formed with thier jam sessions. The band plays an alternative form of punk rock, and "does not go easy on the ears". Heavily influenced by bands such as Schlong, Green Jelly, George Thorogood, and Your Mother, the duo released thier debut recordings via the internet in 2009. These recordings were simply titled "The Lemon Bazil Album". In November of 2010, they recorded new songs at a lock-in, and re-released "The Lemon Bazil Album" with different songs. The band then recruited Steven James for a short stint as vocalist. He was soon fired from the group, and Brad returned to vocals in addition to drums. Daniel Dambros quickly joined the band as a second guitarist in time to record thier debut album "Go Like Us On Facebook" in Febuary 2011. The band spent one night in Craft's garage recording, and released the recordings. After several failed attempts to book shows, Craft & Dambros realized thier band needed a change in direction. Recruiting Doug Krauth as vocalist and Charlie Wones as bassist, the band attempted to write all new material, but the band caved in, and officially disbanded on August 22, 2011.
