Kristián (Bohumír) Gottfried Hirschmentzel (January 7, 1638 Frýdek - February 26, 1703 Velehrad) was a Baroque historian, priest, writer, philosopher. He was born in Frýdek in Silesia, he worked mainly in Bolatice in the Opava region and as a spiritual in Velehrad. Hirschmentzel was born into the family of a nobleman from the Silesian region of Legnica. Hirschmentzel's father was a convert who left the Silesian majority Lutheran environment and became a Catholic. Kristián Gottfried Hirschmentzel studied at grammar schools in Wrocław and Brno. In 1656 he entered the Cistercian monastery in Velehrad and in 1657 he took the vow of the order. In 1671 he became the spiritual administrator in Boršice, in the years 1674 - 1692 administrator of the monastery farm and rectory in Bolatice in Opava Silesia, where he also made a significant contribution to cultural life. Bolatice is located in today's Hlučín region, it was a region inhabited by the so-called Moravians, in what was then mostly predominantly German - inhabited Silesia. In 1688 he founded the " Rosary Brotherhood" in Bolatice. In addition to cultural activity, the revival of religious life in Silesia after the Thirty Years' War, he also devoted himself to economic matters. He spent the last decade of his life as a spiritual monastery in Velehrad, where he devoted himself to the historical figures of Cyril and Methodius. He tried to revive the feast of the two brothers when, as early as 1676 , he asked the Bishop of Olomouc
