Kjell Nordeson is a drummer and vibes player. He divides his time between Stockholm and San Francisco. Nordeson has studied classical percussion with Björn Liljeqvist, principal percussionist of the Stockholm Philharmonic. Together with saxophonist Mats Gustafsson, he formed AALY Trio in 1986. In Stockholm he regularly works with musicians such as Sten Sandell, Christer Bothén, Peter Söderberg, David Stackenäs, Martin Küchen, and Fredrik Ljungkvist. He is also a member of Stockholm Low Dynamic Orchestra, Nacka Forum, Katzen Kapell, Firehouse, and Exploding Customer. Nordeson has toured extensively in North America and Europe with AALY Trio and School Days. He has performed with Peter Brötzmann, Barry Guy, Joe Morris, William Parker, Paul Rutherford, Gerry Hemingway, Frank Gratkowski and Stefano Scodanibbio. In 1994 he founded Co. Alba together with choreographer Nathalie Ruiz. Co. Alba is also a platform for his work as a composer. Ruiz and Nordeson have jointly produced numerous dance performances; their latest piece, a short film entitled Désiré, was commissioned by Swedish Television. Nordeson has worked in theatre performances at The Royal Dramatic Theatre and Stockholm's Stadsteater as well as Riksteatern. With choreographer Philippe Blanchard's ensemble Adekwhat he has toured throughout Germany, Finland, Israel and Egypt.
